Here is how you can tell if you upholstery can be steam cleaned. There should be a label on the furniture and usually the label will say the recommended cleaning method. It may say outright steam cleaning or dry clean only. However, sometimes the label just has a letter to signify how it is to be cleaned. If it has a “W”, that stands for water and it can be steam cleaned. If it has a “S”, that stands for solvent and means it is to be dry cleaned. It is very important that you don’t steam clean a dry clean only piece of furniture as it can leave water spots. If there is no label, you may want to check with the manufacturer of the furniture or the store where it was purchased.
