Well, Happy New Year To Everyone!!!
We begin the New Year hearing stories from new clients telling about the various gimmicks from some of the dirt cheap prices some of the carpet cleaners are advertising in coupons or specials. Remember the saying….”You get what you paid for?”. Well, it applies here as well.
We have heard of much higher extra charges to have a deep carpet cleaning instead of the “light” carpet cleaning in the fine print in those coupons. You know the ones. Okay, what exactly is “light” cleaning? Does that mean you just throw water on it and extract the top layer of water? If someone wants a clean carpet, why would they want it only slightly clean? The way I see it is it is clean or it is dirty…. there is nowhere in between. Why would a company put their reputation on the line to say “oh, that is a light cleaning…. now to really get your carpets cleaned, it will be an additional X$?”
Why is this extra $20 charged because someone lives on the 2nd floor or 100th floor? Why weren’t they told this on the phone? Why did all the prices change once the technician arrived? Or how about the ones that charge by the step…. they say how it will be X$ more to do those additional steps. There are some that say they do a whole house dirt cheap but then you read the fine print that rooms have to be 100 sq ft or less and that is for the “light” cleaning. You find out the true cost only after they arrive.
What about guarantees? Most carpet cleaners don’t offer them but the ones that do often have all these hoops you have to go through to honor the guarantee…. they are hoping you tire out before asking for your money back because the cleaning didn’t meet your expectations. Where are all the carpet cleaners that are willing to put their reputation on the line for every single job by offering you a guarantee such as “You will be delighted by our quality cleaning, or it’s FREE?” If a carpet cleaner is using state of the art equipment, quality with a free guarantee should be a no-brainer. It is called risk reversal where the carpet cleaner takes the risk because they have confidence in the quality of their cleaning.
Okay, I guess I have vented enough but it just is disappointing to hear all these stories that put a blemish on our industry. There still are some good, quality carpet cleaning companies out there. Do your homework and ask the tough questions. For new potential clients reading this blog, I will take $10 off your cleaning order (carpet, tile, grout, upholstery, furniture, mattress, rugs, etc. ) with us for the months of January and February to give us a RISK-FREE try by mentioning this blog when you are scheduling your appointment. See Carpet Cleaning Specials Florida! Oh, and by the way- we only do “real” cleaning, you know the type, deep cleaning that is actually clean and we give you the guarantee: “You will be delighted by our quality cleaning, or it’s FREE!” 🙂
